A Card for Jayme

Today I'd like to share another special card with you.  I made this card for Lisa Cook's sister Jayme.  She is in her early 50's and has terminal lung cancer, which has recently spread to other parts of her body.  You can read more about Jayme on Lisa's blog here.  Since Jayme loves frogs, I chose an image from Pixie Dust Studio, "Pollywog".

I really love this digi and I hope she enjoys the card.  Thanks for visiting!

Super Sam!

Just in case you haven't heard, Sam is a wonderful and strong 5 year old boy battling cancer. He was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lymphoma last week. He has a very tough fight ahead of him and will be in the hospital for many months.   If you would like to show your support for Sam, just click on the icon on my sidebar.
Here is the card I created for Sam using a Pixie Dust Studio digi, "Ocean Quest".
My DP is from DCWV's "All About Boys".  My card stock is from SU and PTI:

Sugar Creek Hollow Fabulous Friday

It's another Fabulous Friday at Sugar Creek Hollow!  Today I 'd like to share a new card I created with Tracey's stunning "Bee Tile" image.  The design team was challenged this week to make a recessed window card.  This is the first time I've ever made one of these and I'll certainly be making more!

I used PinkPaislee's "Queen Bee" design paper and added Nellie Snellen punched flowers with dew drop centers.  My vintage bow was created with Sugar Creek Hollow's own Country Crinkled Ribbon.

Thanks for visiting and be sure to visit my team mate's blog for more fabulous creations!

I will be entering this in the ABC Challenge.

Going Round and Round - This Week's Pixie Dust Challenge

The Pixie Dust Studio challenge for this week was to create a card with circles.  I wanted to make another creation with Jack Sparrow from "The Pearl" collection and I came up with all kinds of circles!  I added circular beads to Jack's braids, an octopus and shells.  I really had fun with this card!  I distressed the edges of my Flair DP and my SU Wasibi card stock.  I used jute to add stitching and raffia ribbon for interest.

Paper Jewels Wednesday

Today I have a new Sweet Pea Ching Chou Kiuks card to show you from Paper Jewels, the stamp is "Purple Comfort".  And no, I did not use any purple colors!  I just received this new design paper, "Stirred Not Shaken" by Kaisercraft and I just thought how perfect this would be with this sultry beauty.
I added black organza ribbon and Prima roses mounted on a punched medallion from Martha Stewart.

Mother and Child

I just had to share a card I made for the joyous arrival of a friend's first child!  I found this fabulous print online and I'm sorry to say I can't remember the site.  If anyone recognizes this please let me know, or if I find it again I will come back and give credit to the person.  Thanks Lorraine for providing the site for this delightful print, the blog is "Digital Two for Tuesday" by Cora and the image is from a book "Your Baby's Care" which was given by the hospital to new parents in 1936.

My design paper is from DCWV and my sentiment was printed with my Design Runner.  I used a few Copics to color and bring out the mother and child.

Thanks for visiting!

With Sympathy

I displayed a card I created with this set earlier this year and this one is similar, but I still wanted to show it to you.  This Spellbinder's die is just so versatile and this is only two of the crosses in the set.
The sentiment is from Sugar Creek Hollow and the design paper is from DCWV.   I just love this ruffled ribbon and included this plus some pearl dew drops for my embellishments.
Thanks for visiting and may you have a blessed Sunday.

Let's Have Some Rockabilly!

As in "Cheeky Rockabilly" from The Greeting Farm.  I needed to make a get well card for a friend, and she is just so "sassy"!  I was looking through my stamps and as soon as I saw this one, I knew this was it!
My friend underwent surgery for one thing and while home recovering, had an appendicitis attack!  Talk about double trouble!  So this is her card.  I used DP from Basic Grey's "Nook and Pantry" and card sticj from Canson.
Here's a pic of the Copic markers I used (I forgot to include E00):
Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend!

Sugar Creek Hollow Fabulous Friday

We were challenged this week to share one of our favorite digital images with you.  Today, this is my favorite image.  I just have so many favorites at Sugar Creek Hollow that they have to take turns!  I decided to go all out with a vintage look.  I tore my DP layers and used some distressed ink to make them look aged.   My flowers were painted with Ranger distressed inks.  Surprised you didn't I?

I added some old buttons, crocheted lace, ruffled ribbon and raffia lace.  I have a piece of vellum under my layers.  My design paper is from Creative Imaginations, vellum is "Rose Garden" from Michael's and card stock is from Stampin Up.

Thanks for visiting and please take a moment and visit my team mate's blogs, they also have some "Fabulous Friday" creations to show you!

Tribute to Pearl Harbor- Pixie Dust Studio Challenge "The Pearl"

This is my tribute to all of our men and women who were involved in World War II, especially during the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Kathy created this fabulous image and more at  Pixie Dust Studio!
Copics Used
I went shopping and picked out DP especially for this image.  My mom and dad were both in the military during World War II.  I actually "borrowed" a U.S. pin from my mother's uniform for my card (I promise I will return it!).  I'd like to show you a picture of my mom in uniform, she was a nurse in the Army Nurse Corps.  I'm just sorry I don't have a photo of my dad to share.   Love you mom and dad!
Thanks for visiting,  I'll be sharing more of "The Pearl" with you this week!

BTW, this will make a great BD card for my son-in-law in Afghanistan - entered in OCC challenge and Shabby Tea Room challenge

Paper Jewels Wednesday

It's Wednesday and time for me to show you a new card I created with my Bildmalarna's.  This is Mimosa Boat from Paper Jewels.  She is having a "jolly roger" good time!

I have had her for a while, and I don't know why I waited so long to ink her up!  She is just a cutie!    I used "Making Waves" design paper from Flair and card stock from Canson and Stampin Up.  The picture below shows the Copic markers I used.

Thanks for visiting and please be sure to stop by Paper Jewels tomorrow and see what my  friend Jennifer has created!

Pixie Dust Studio Sneak Peak - "The Pearl" Collection

This is a "sneak peak" from "The Pearl" collection.   I wanted to make something special for the release and found the tutorial for this freestanding popup card here.   I really wanted to include Pop Up Pearl, Mermaid with Pearl and Jack Sparrow and this was the perfect type card to show 'em all!

I have colored the mermaid and Jack with Copic markers and Pearl with Luminarte H20's.  I also have crystal effects on Pearl, but it's hard to see.  This actually folds for mailing!  I'm sure you will love this new collection, please visit my other's team members to see their peeks!

Thanks for visiting and be sure to come back on Thursday to see more from "The Pearl"!

Send Them to Sam!

I hope everyone will take a few minutes to join the "Send Them To Sam" campaign.  Sam is a little 5 year old boy with Stage 3 Lymphoma.  He will be in the hospital for many months and cards would just add so much beauty to this ugly battle.  Just click on the link in my sidebar for all the details.  This is especially dear to me since I lost a 5 year old nephew with Neuroblastoma and my dad was recently diagnosed with cancer.

Hugs and blessings,

A Blast From the Past

Sorry I don't have a new card to show you, but I have been very busy creating some new cards for my design teams and spending time running between the hospital and the nursing home for my mom and dad.  I did think it might be fun to show you one of my earlier cards when I first started stamping about 4 years ago:

I guess I figured less is more, but in this case it looks like less is lacking!

I will post a new card tomorrow - and I have cards already scheduled for Wednesday through Friday!  Now I'm going to go  blog hopping and leave you some love!

Sugar Creek Hollow Fabulous Friday

This is the card I created for my Sugar Creek Hollow post this week.   We had a color challenge using very vanilla, bayou blue, soft sky and chocolate chip.  I had to improvise on the colors, so I hope this is close enough.  I made a tent card so I could showcase my dad better.  I embossed some of my card stock and distressed all the edges.  Some of the edges were also sponged with distressed ink.

I adhered the sentiment to a die cut which looked like the perfect belt buckle, complete with "silver" studs.  I was so excited to complete my Father's Day card early!

Thanks for visiting and be sure to go to the Sugar Creek Hollow blog and check out my team member's fabulous creations!
