Vintage Anyone?

I'm back from a fabulous beach vacation in South Carolina!  I spent five glorious days on Pawley's Island basking in the sun with my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.  Oh what fun to watch the children skim boarding and learning how to surf  Note the word "watch"... I enjoyed sitting under the umbrella reading and the occasional dip in the ocean.  I did apply myself to a fairly intensive seashell hunt and I have lots of treasures to use on boxes and cards.

I have been in a vintage state of mind lately... I love adding all kinds of embellishments and creating a collage.  I've been eyeing these two vintage labels for some time and decided to pair these up with an ornate gate, all from Create with TLC.

card recipe:
design paper from MME, Bazzill and Georgia Pacific cardstock,
Copic markers, distress inks, Martha Stewart punch,
Prima hydrangea, Viva Decor pearl pen

This was a delight to create - I just love when I have all the "stuff" I need on hand.  I live in a rural area and  have to drive an hour to a craft store.  This gives me an excuse to "stock up" so I have what I think I'll need readily available.  I enjoy using digi's because you can have your image in a snap.  I do need to add that I still love my rubber!

Sugar Creek Hollow Alumni Reunion

Today I'm joining my former design team, Sugar Creek Hollow, for an Alumni Reunion.  I learned vintage design while serving with this fabulous challenge blog.  There are also some other alumni joining in for this week's current challenge,  "We Are Family".    I chose digis from Create with TLC for my creation:

card recipe:
Create with TLC "Vintage Picnic" digi image and "Family Link" sentiment
MME "Find and Dandy Boy" design paper, Stampin Up and Georgia Pacific
cardstock, silk ribbon, Spellbinders die and Martha Stewart punch,
crimper, Recollection pearls, Copic markers and distress inks

For this week's SCH challenge, make a vintage or shabby chic card or other paper-crafted project that reminds you of family.   One random winner will receive a digi along with a winner's badge to display. The Design Team will choose their Top Pick and that creator will receive a winner's badge but will also be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Yesterday was my dad's 86th birthday...He's still going strong, living in his own home and driving to the local town about 10 miles away.  He's a retired fireman and farmer and wears his World War II cap with pride.  I'm just so amazed when strangers stop him, shake his hand and thank him for his support of our country.  I can remember not too many years ago there were still World War I survivors alive.  So, "Happy Birthday" dad, I'm so proud of you and blessed that you are still alive.  We celebrated his birthday last night with a home cooked meal and an ice cream cake, yum!  And of course, I made him his card which I think is so fitting!

card recipe:
Create with TLC digi and background design paper, DCWV and
Bazzill cardstock, burlap, baker's twine, SU punch, distress inks
and Copic markers

I just love how the image and the design papers work so well together, I love mixing and matching!  My dad was thrilled with his card and the party after dinner was a well kept surprise.

Thanks for visiting my blog, I love reading your comments and appreciate all your support!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Sew Thankful

This was such a delight to create!  I guess you can tell I love vintage images and I adore dress forms and old sewing machines.  When I saw this set from Create with TLC I knew I had the perfect design paper to go with this image.

card recipe:
"Sew What" digi design set from TLC, MME Lost & Found Two "Blush"
design paper,Dew Drops, Stampin Up cardstock, Spellbinders die,
 ribbon from my stash

I love antiques and I have a vintage portable Singer sewing machine handed down to me from my aunt.  The one in this collection is a lot older than mine, I can't imagine sewing by turning that large handle, give me electric any day!   My aunt also had a dress form and I can remember seeing her using this.

Friends

When friends stand shoulder to shoulder..., I just love this sentiment!  This makes me stop and reflect on how important my friends are to me.  I dedicate this post to my wonderful friends who make my life richer and throw me a lifeline when they see me sinking in the mire of everyday life.  I love you all!

"Friends Stand Shoulder to Shoulder" image and sentiment from
Create with TLC,Crate Paper "Farmhouse" design paper,

Flora and Friends

I have a vintage card to share with you today, Flora and Friends Vintage Collage.  I added some color to the birds and banner and inked the edges with distress inks.  The border around my image was made with an embossing folder.

My Beacon

Today I have a vintage collage to show you from Create with TLC.  I love lighthouses and this collage comes complete with the sentiment.  I found this yummy design paper which echoes the nautical theme I created.

card recipe:
TLC My Beacon Vintage Collage digi, Websters Pages design paper, Georgia Pacific and Bazzill cardstock,  Spellbinders die, raffia ribbon,  hand made sea shells, distress ink and Copic markers

The hardest part of making this card was deciding what to use to decorate my "rope".  I wanted seashells but had nothing in my stash that vaguely resembled a shell so... I created my own!  This is actually easy peasy.   I found some creme paper in my stash, ran it through a crimper and then cut out small circles.  I then trimmed the bottom and added distress ink for depth... instant shells!

May You Have Enough Faith...

When I saw this design at Create with TLC I just knew I had to make a card with this!  Faith is what keeps me afloat in this world we live in now.  Sometimes the battles we face are huge and then again, just the little problems can add up to major headaches.

card recipe:
TLC digi "Enough Faith to Give You Courage", K & Co. design paper,
Stampin Up, Canson and Georgia Pacific cardstock, Marianne, Spellbinders and
Cuttlebug dies, Wild Orchid flower, distress ink and Copic marker

I decided to play with my scissors for this card.  I wanted to frame this digi with a Spellbinders Labels 20 die so I had to cut the digi free hand.  A little help with a sanding block helped me to smooth ridges.
