Pixie Dust Studio Challenge #15 - Mom's The Word!

Ooh, I just had to play along with this challenge, after all Mother's Day will be here soon! I love Pixie Dust Studio images and when I saw "Little Miss Dress Up" I knew this would be the perfect image for a Mother's Day card. I hope mom can stand all the bright colors, do you think I should have a pair of sunglasses ready for her to put on? Here's my card:
Now this will certainly brighten my mom's Mother's Day. She forgets how old she is now, which is 87. I joke with her and tell her how old I am and then ask her, now how old does that make you? She doesn't remember, so I tell her "87!". We both get a good laugh because she does not picture herself as that old.
About my card:
Basic Grey "Lemonade" design paper
Flower made with Spellbinders die, Prima Hydrangea
Pearl dew drops, Prima flower jewelry, Martha Stewart & EK Success border punch
Copics: E000, E31 R11, R20, R22, R32, Y0000, YG03, YG23, Y21, YR21
Thanks for visiting!

Miss You

I have another "Springy" card to show you this week. This Mimosa is actually "I Forgot", not "Miss You". I decided to go with a different sentiment and I didn't want to confuse you - if you're like me, sometimes it doesn't take a lot! You can find this little darlin' right here at the Paper Jewels store along with lots of other Bildmalarna and Sweet Pea stamps.
I can sure see me using this a lot, when I forget birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, showers... and the list goes on! I used my brand spankin' new Basic Grey "Kioshi" paper. I was lucky enough to grab the last pad at my LSS. I love the colors, makes me really think "Spring". I'm also using my raffia lace (had a hard time finding this too!) and a new Spellbinder's die. I added mini roses, dew drops and Prima flower jewelry. And Danni, just for you, a butterfly!
Here is a list of the Copic markers I used:
E000, E00, R11, R20, RV0000, BV0000, G0000, Y0000, YG0000, YG03, YG11, Y23, YR21, E13, E31, E35, E37
Thanks for visiting and please don't forget to visit the Paper Jewels blog tomorrow to see the card my friend Jennifer has made.

Paper Jewels and Critter Challenge Blog Hop!

Due to blogger issues where people are having trouble viewing pictures, I have just learned that the hop has been extended to Wednesday at 10 a.m. with winners being announced on Thursday. The Critter Sketch Challenge Blog is partnering with their March sponsor, Paper Jewels and having a blog hop starting today! There will also be an Easter egg hunt, now how exciting is that? In order to join the "hunt" you need to visit all the design team member's blogs and post a comment. If you started with my blog, you must return here to begin the hop.
The winner must not only leave comments, but join in the sketch challenge. Here is the sketch:
You may create a card or a scrapbook page following the sketch. And...you must include jewelry as an embellishment! Here is my creation and I've included Prima flower jewelry.
This is one of the many fabulous stamps available in the Paper Jewels store. This is "Red Hearts" from the Ching Chou Kiuks Fantasy Art Collection. I used Copic Markers and My Mind's Eye design paper.
The hop is all day Monday, but you will have until Wednesday at 10 a.m. EST to post your creation. All winners will be placed on the Critter Challenge Blog Thursday, so be sure to check back there to see if you're a winner.
Here is a photo of the blog candy I'm offering for the challenge:
Now you need to hop to the Paper Jewels blog.

Michelle Perkett Studio Challenge 22 - A Sketch with Text

Well I guess you know what I've been doing lately...cards! This is my entry for Michelle Perkett Studio's current challenge. I seem to have a thing for purple lately. I chose Basic Grey's Wisteria for my design paper and the digital stamp "Mary, Mary" from Michelle's store.
There was a sketch to follow which was a good thing, my poor brain is tired! I made all of my embellishments with the exception of the dew drops. Mary is colored with Copic markers. Here is a list of the markers I used:
E000, E00, E13, E31, E35, E37, E53, R11, R20, V06, V15, V17, B0000, B02 B12, B95, YR0000, YR00, YR21, Y21, Y23, G21

Crafty Critter Challenge #24

Today is also the due date for my entry in the Crafty Critter Challenge. This is a challenge within the blog group I belong to at SCS. The challenge this week was to create an easel card having more than four colors, something glittery, ribbon and layer(s). I'm using a new Magnolia stamp I just received, "Shepherd Tilda".
Here's a slightly different angle:
Easel cards are a lot of fun except when it's time to photograph them! I'm using a macro lens but it does not have a zoom and sometimes I have to contort myself, LOL! Anyway, this was also my first opportunity to use my new Basic Grey Kioshi pad. I am so in love with this new collection! I also used raffia lace, a Spellbinder's die cut (just in time for Easter!), a butterfly charm and I made the flower with another Spellbinder's die.
My Copic colors match rather well with my design paper. Here are my colors:
G0000, V0000, V04, V06, V12, E31, E35, E37, C00, C1, C3, C5, C7, E000, E00, R11

The Greeting Farms Battle of the DT's!!!

There is a wonderful competition being hosted by The Greeting Farm and our Crafty Critter blog group split into two teams to compete. This week's challenge is to go "retro" with a color scheme. My team is the Stampin Farmettes Sisters and our "sister" team is The Stampin Farmettes. We can move to the next round if we get enough comments and votes, so please go over to The Greeting Farm and vote for us! You can actually vote up to 3 times and I know our "sister" team would also appreciate your vote. April, my good friend and team leader has created our retro entry for this week's challenge:

I think she did a fabulous job! We would love your vote so we can continue the next week, voting is open until Tuesday.

Thanks for visiting!

Critter Sketch Challenge #7 hosted by Paper Jewels

It's my turn to post another challenge card for the Critter Sketch Challenge! This is the sketch we used for Challenge #7.
This is the last challenge sponsored by Paper Jewels this month and my card is created with one of the stamps Jenny carries in her store, "The Serene Night". This is a Sweet Pea stamp, part of the "Ching-Chou Kiuks" collection. This is actually the first time I've created a card from this collection and I so enjoyed myself! I've always loved fantasy and this just fills that little niche in me plus let's me expand my creativity.
The hardest part was choosing which design paper I wanted to use. I finally decided on two. My image is mounted on a panel from DCWV's "Once Upon a Time" collection. The rest of my design paper is from Basic Grey's "Marrakech" collection. My card stock is from Stamping Up.
Now my coloring is with two different mediums this time. I started with Luminarte H20's on the clothing and mermaid tail. I then used Copics for the hair, flesh and background. I also used a Copic Atyou Spica silver pen randomly on the scales (guess that makes three!).
Copics:
G0000, G21, BG0000, BG93, B95, R11, R20, C00, C1, C3, C5, E000, E00, E31, E35

Something Other Than A Card

I thought I'd change up and create something other than a card. No, I'm not tired of making cards! Just changing the flow a little. So how about something other than an Easter basket as a gift this Easter? I know the kiddies would not appreciate this, but maybe the grownups would prefer a mug with some gourmet coffee beans or some hot chocolate packets.
My cute tags were created with images from Sugar Creek Hollow, as well as the sentiment "Easter Blessings". Now make sure you use a large mug so you can stuff plenty of goodies! I wish I knew the name of my design paper, but I decided to use "scraps" in a futile attempt to down size my pile of paper. My bow is actually one I received from the florist with a beautiful vase of tulips. I used Copics on my tags and sentiment.
Thanks for visiting, have a great weekend!

Fabulous Friday at Sugar Creek Hollow

It's Friday again and time for another Sugar Creek Hollow Fabulous Friday challenge. Make sure you head over there to get your Friday freebie and also on Saturday so you can participate in our first sketch challenge! A new sketch challenge will be posted every Saturday so be sure to mark your calendars for both Fridays and Saturdays.
Today I have an Easter card to share with you. The design team was given a sketch to use for our challenge. As I browsed the different Easter images Tracy has created, I knew I just had to create a card featuring the cross. I chose the decorative cross which is adhered to a Spellbinders die cut. I also chose several other Sugar Creek Hollow designs to decorate my card.
The cross represents to me God's most precious gift, the sacrifice of His only Son to pay my sin debt. The hymn, "Jesus Paid it All" keeps playing in my mind especially the refrain:
Refrain:
Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.
Thanks for visiting and be sure to check out my team members creations! Just click on the link and be sure to leave them some "love". Have a "fabulous friday" and thanks for visiting!

Mimosa Watering Can

My turn to share another Mimosa cutie with you today! This is "Mimosa Watering Can" from the Bildmalarna collection available from Paper Jewels. Jenny has been really busy stocking her new store while the DT gets to play. I am loving creating with all the Spring images available. Who else is over it with Winter right now?
Here is my card, and I'm so excited that I received my new raffia lace so I could add as an embellishment.
I pulled out some of my older design paper this time, do you recognize Basic Grey Euphoria? I embossed my paper trim with one of the teeny Cuttlebug flower folders and then lightly sanded the flowers. The paper lace was cut with a Martha Stewart punch as well as the butterflies. Now for my list of Copics used:
Eooo, E00, E11, E31, E35, B0000, B12, B93, B95, R0000, R11, R20, R32, C00, C1, C3, C5, C7, YG0000, YG06, YG63, Y17, Y21, Y38, G0000, G00, G14, G21
Thanks for visiting and please check back tomorrow on the Paper Jewels site to see what my friend Jennifer has created.

Pixie Dust Studio Challenge #14, The Power of 3

Time for another Pixie Dust Studio challenge! The challenge this week is to create a card using 3 of "something". I chose "Spot of Tea" from the Down the Rabbit Hole collection. I just love this little mouse popping up out of the teacup (now if that should happen in real life, I'd have a heart attack!). My teacup and mouse are situated on a Spellbinders flower die and I I have 3 other flowers on my card. I used Basic Grey "Indian Summer" design paper, SU card stock and some SU design paper for my flowers.
Copics:
R11, R20, R22, R0000, C00, C1, YG11, YG23
Thanks for visiting!

Bridesmaid Tilda

Betcha thought I wouldn't post a card today! I'm late, this has been a busy day running errands and going to the dentist (ouch!). I decided to ink up a Magnolia Tilda. I think the Bridesmaid Tilda is just so cute, maybe because she's looking over her shoulder. I made this card to enter in the Friday Sketcher's Challenge #94. And lookie! There are no flowers on my card! I decided to walk on the wild side this time. My only embellishments are dew drop pearls, satin ribbon and paper lace cut with a Martha Stewart punch.
It was fun to create a card with a Tilda again. I fell in love with these little cuties when I first started stamping.
About my card:
Basic Grey Wisteria design paper
Stamping Up card stock
Copics: C00, C3, C5, C7, C9, E000, E00, R11, R20, R32, B0000, B00, B12, B32, B95, YG0000, YG11, G14

Tribute to My "Pride"

Today I want to pay tribute to a really great dog. My "Pride" was truly one of the greatest dogs that ever lived. He was great to me because he loved me with his entire being. Pride was a one person dog and I was his person. I rarely needed a leash because he stuck to me like glue. Like most Australian Shepherds, he was full of energy and loved to run and jump. When my other great "aussie" Rusty was alive, the two of them would play "tackle" in the pasture and put on a regular show clowning around with each other.
June 10, 1999 - March 15, 2010
Last Monday I had to make one of the hardest decisions I've ever made in my life. Pride was suffering with lymphoma and that particular weekend was very painful for him. So on Monday I called my veterinarian and took him in for the injection that would cure his misery. I held him in my arms as he took his last breath, telling him I loved him.
This is still very difficult for me, but so many of you have prayed for him and expressed your sympathy that I wanted to share this tribute. I will never forget the date because this happened to be my birthday.

Michelle Perkett Studio Challenge 21 - Flowers and Stitching

I missed last week's challenge, so I'm actually posting this early (for me, anyway). This week the challenge calls for stitching and handmade flowers. I chose "Queen of Hearts Birthday Girl" as my image. I can always use a birthday card, I never seem to have enough on hand! My flowers were handmade with a Spellbinders Poinsettia die and Martha Stewart flower punches. My stitching is faux with a gel pen.
I did color her with Copic Markers, but it was a while ago and I can't for the life of me find the info. I used a Spellbinder's die for my frame, pearl dew drops, pearl "rope", DCWV design paper and SU card stock.
Thanks for visiting!

Grandmother's Cameo

"Cameo Ladies" is one of the new April releases at Sugar Creek Hollow. As soon as I saw this cameo image, I was reminded of the necklace that was given to me by my mother that was her grandmother's. I chose to only lightly color the image and concentrated more on coloring the cameo background and the frame.

Here's a closer look:
I used K & Company's "Ancestry" design papers with a scrap of old lace and made my own flower. The cameo background is colored with Copic Markers. The frame is painted with Luminarte H20 Egyptian Gold.
For the finishing touch, I included my great grandmother's cameo in the photo.

Crafty Critter Challenge #23

This is my challenge card for my Crafty Critter blog group. The criteria was to follow this Mojo Monday Sketch and to actually send the completed card to someone.
Here is my entry:
This is a Meljen design and can be seen on her blog here.
I am also going to enter this in the Mojo Monday challenge since it is still open. This little cat is just too cute with his fish dangling on the pole and all Spring just popping out all over! I colored with Copics, but don't have my list handy. I used SU design paper and card stock and couldn't resist making another easel card.
Have a great weekend and thanks for visiting!
p.s. I already gave this to one of my best friends!

Sugar Creek Hollow Fabulous Friday -You've Tied Up My Heart

It's time for another Sugar Creek Hollow Fabulous Friday! When I saw this ruffled red gingham check lace, I knew for sure what my card for the Friday challenge would be. I love the new apron and sentiment design and thought what a great combination for a Mother's Day card. Webster's Pages had the perfect design paper to go with this.
I paper pieced my apron with design paper from Stamping Up. I then added the ruffled lace and machine stitched the lace and apron to my paper. I added buttons, a heart charm and key ring charm. I sponged my sentiment and the edges of my design paper.
Be sure to check out the rest of the design team's creations...
And also join us in Sugar Creek Hollow's first Saturday Sketch Challenge! Just visit the homepage here.
Thanks for visiting!
p.s. I'm entering this in the Shabby Tea Room Challenge.

Tutorial for Side Step Card

I posted a side step card, "Spring Ferret Fever" on my March 16, 2010 post and some of you asked for the tutorial. I hunted high and low and finally found the post, didn't want to give out the deets until I could give credit to the author here.

Atonement

I'm excited to be able to share my card with you today, "Atonement". This very elegant sentiment is just part of the Sugar Creek Hollow collection. Also, I got a chance to play with my new Spellbinders die, "Cross Collection" - I'm in love with this die set! I am entering this in the current Stamping Sisters In Christ challenge #30. The criteria this week is to create a card that either uses the image "peace" or includes "peace" in the sentiment. The cross image represents to me the peace that is available to all who accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Can you believe there is no Copic marker coloring? That's right, the only thing I used was a "Atyou Spica Gold" pen to enhance my sentiment just a bit. My design paper is DCWV Luxury Stack, card stock is from A.C.Moore and I used pearl dew drops. My ribbon is from the Ribbon Retreat.

Mimo With Roses

Today I'd like to share a card I created using Mimo with Roses. This is just another of the cute Bildmalarna stamps available at Paper Jewels. Isn't he adorable?
It's great to be able to share another fabulous Bildmalarna stamp with you, "Mimo with Roses". Is he not just the most adorable young boy? This really made me think of Mother's Day, although I cannot remember my son ever giving me red roses. He really looks country with the denim overalls and straw hat... so I decided to use my denim design paper from Flair.

Mimo is actually dangling from my tent card. These are just too much fun to make! I made my flower with the same design paper and then added buttons and rick rack. I colored Mimo with my Copic Markers.
Thanks for visiting and I'll be back next Wednesday with another card to share with you. Be sure to check back tomorrow to see Jennifer's creation!
Hugs,

Pretty in Pink/Pixie Dust Studio Challenge #12- Buttons and Bows

Good morning! Today I'm sharing a card I made for the current Pixie Dust Studio challenge. Sorry I was in such a rush this morning, I was running late, my girlfriend was waiting for me in the driveway and she was running late! This has been a wacky week for me, so I appreciate your patience waiting for me to finalize the details of my card below:
This is another fabulous image created by Kathy and the challenge today was to use buttons and bows. I used "The Paper Studio", "Imaginisce" and "Amanda Blu & Co." design paper. I just thought the ballet slipper paper and the polka dots went so well with this little cutie. I also used a Martha Stewart punch for my lace.
Copics:
R22, R20, R11, R0000, C00, C1, Y23, Y17

Spring Ferret Fever!

I fell in love with this cute little ferret from Meljen Designs and decided he would look great on a side step card. I love trying new card techniques, so when I saw this type of card I knew I would be making one soon! I cut my card stock 6" x 12" so my ferret had to fit on a 2" wide panel. There are other sizes you can choose, just do a search for "side step cards".
I am entering my card in the current Flutterby Wednesday Challenge #100 - congratulations Danni!
My card is also eligible for entry in several other challenges:
Here is an angled view:
I had so much fun creating this card! The image is adorable and the side step design was a challenge. I used Bo Bunny design paper and Canson card stock. I decided to create a little outdoorsy scene so my "grass" was made with a Cuttlebug folder and a Martha Stewart punch. The wavy cut was created with a Creative Memories paper cutter. I love using buttons and the five on the bottom are strung with jute. A few dew drops and the essential butterflies complete the "picture"!
Copics:
E00, E25, E33, E35, E50, BG01, Y17, Y23, R05, R11 and R20.

Critter Sketch Challenge #5 hosted by Paper Jewels

I'm so excited to be posting another challenge card for the Critter Sketch Challenge! Our sponsor for the month is Paper Jewels and my card is created with one of the stamps she carries in her store, "Mimosa's Flower". Jenny carries quite a few of the Bildmalarna stamps and has recently added Sweet Pea stamps "Ching-Chou Kiuks" collection. I think I'll refer to them as Sweet Pea's "Fantasy Art Fairies and Mermaids" (much easier to spell and pronounce!).
My Mimosa card was created from the following sketch:
And here's my interpretation of the sketch:
My design paper is Basic Grey's "Lemonade" collection and my card stock is from SU. My flower was made with Spellbinder's Poinsettia die and I added a Prima Hydrangea and a button. I would list my Copic colors but while I was away from my desk, some little gremlin made off with my list!
Thanks for visiting and be sure to visit the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog to see what my design team mates have created!
