This weeks sketch...it's "YOUR PICK" Make it fancy, clean and simple, or somewhere in-between. Remember to click on the sneak peek button on the side bar for the following weeks sketch each Friday.

"YOUR CHOICE"

Enter one style or both this week.

Here is my entry for this weeks challenge.  This fabulous image is from Sunshine and Giggles, "The Good Witch".   I colored her with my Copic markers and used Recollections "Halloween" design paper.  I just love mixing and matching paper so I had a blast with this design!  My cobwebs were made with a Martha Stewart Punch and I also used a Spellbinders Lotus Pendant.  I found this really cool Halloween sentiment from "Ink Stains".

Harry Potter Release from Pixie Dust Studio! Sneak Peek Monday

For all you Harry Potter fans, Kathy is releasing her newest collection on Wednesday which centers around the world of Harry Potter!  I have watched every one of the movies and it is just a feast for all of us who love the world of fantasy.  Today I am giving you a sneak peek of one of Harry's best friends, Ron:
Everything right now is all about starting a new school year and the upcoming Fall.  So I have designed Ron to look "preppy" using Basic Grey Capella DP and adding DCWV brown which I have embossed and sanded.  I also used SU card stock for my die cuts.  And since I can never throw anything away (thank you Gretchen, LOL!), I had a piece of SU ribbon which matched perfectly.

Please join me tomorrow for another sneak peek and again on Wednesday for the big Harry Potter release day!  My Pixie mates also have fabulous sneek peeks today too, hope you will visit their blogs which are listed on my sidebar and see their creations!

Thanks for visiting and hope to see you back tomorrow!

Critter Sketch Challenge #29 -" Fall"

This week is my turn to show you a card I created for this week's Critter Sketch Challenge.  The theme for this challenge is "Fall".  I chose a Bildmalarna,"Mimosa Autumn Walk" which is one of the new 2010 Fall stamps I purchased from Papers Jewels.  Doesn't she look sweet?  I found this cute design paper in my stash, Recollections Autumn collection.  I added a Cuttlebug embossed pumpkin to add to the fall look and some die cut buttons from Spellbinders.
I colored my Mimosa image with Copics and cut her out so I could use this gorgeous matching checked DP.   Please join us for this week's challenge and check out the other design team member's creations, we'd love to see your creation!

Thanks for visiting and hope you will join us again next week!

Victorian Rose - Priscilla Styles Challenge

I hope everyone is off to a great start for their weekend!  I'm sharing a card with you today that I have entered in the current Priscilla Styles challenge at Crafter's Digital Art Center (CDAC).  Now if you haven't been there, you're in for a treat!  Just click on my sidebar or go here.  Did I mention that I'm on the Priscilla Styles design team?   You can visit either at the CDAC site or on Facebook.

I asked my hubby about my card,"How do you like it?"  Well....he said it looked like a sympathy card, now does that mean men associate flowers with a funeral?  I can think of other uses for flowers myself.  Now more about my card:
Victorian Rose digi by Priscilla Styles
K and Co. Ancestry design paper
Rose embossing die from Spellbinders
Flowers and jewelry from Prima
Copic markers and antique linen Distress Ink
lace and ribbon from my stash

Thanks for visiting today and make sure you check out the groups and fabulous gallery on CDAC!

The Pixies "Stitch It Up" this Week!

How many of you love to stitch on your cards?  I'll bet lots of you do.  For those who like the look but not the actual sewing, you can always do a faux stitch.  That is what I've done with this week's challenge.  I really like to sew on cards, but sometimes I'm in a hurry.  This week I've used Kathy's "Island Fairy" digi.  She's available in the Pixie Dust Studio along with many other fabulous digis.
You can see my faux stitching around the image oval and also in the border behind the die cut oval.  I used a Cuttlebug embossing strip to achieve the zigzag stitch on the border.  I used Basic Grey's Euphoria collection and Bazzill card stock.  My fairy was colored with Copic markers, my flowers are from Prima and I've used Stickles to add some glamour and glitz.

Join us for this week's challenge and link your card here, we'd love to see your creations!  If you would like some inspiration, just visit the other's Pixie's blogs listed on my sidebar.

Thanks for visiting!

Purple Woods

Today I'd like to share another card I created with Sweet Pea stamps "Purple Woods".
I love the sultry image and the kitten is just adorable - kind of looks like my cat "Tink".  I really enjoyed choosing the colors for this card.  I used Basic Grey's Wisteria collection, I just love the combination of purple, blue and yellow.  My card stock is from Stampin Up and Bazzill.  My stamped image was colored with Copic markers.  I can remember when I first started creating cards - I would color my images first and then try to find matching DP, well that was kind of hit and miss - mostly miss!  Now I start out with colors in mind, choose the DP and then color the image.

Thanks for visiting and be sure to visit the Paper Jewels store and blog!  Jenny has a good collection of Sweet Pea stamps and others.

Priscilla Styles "Vase of Flowers"

I chose one of Priscilla Styles' images, "Vase of Flowers" to make a birthday card for daughter.  I just love this bud vase, reminds me of the one's my mother had when I was growing up.  This made me feel sentimental, so I thought this image would be perfect.

I used Basic Grey "Origins" DP and SU card stock.  The flowers and vase were colored with Copic markers.  I added crystal glaze to the vase to give it more of a glassy appearance.  I also added one of Priscilla's butterflies from another set.  Embossing, die cutting and Prima flower jewelry on a satin bow complete my card.

Happy birthday Amy!  And thank you for visiting my blog today!

Midnight Madness time!  Priscilla comes up with some of the neatest designs, here is the sketch I followed for this week's challenge:
And this is my finished card:
Swirley Punkin Hat

This week's sponsor is Sugar Creek Hollow, owned by Tracy Vinson.  I'm using one of her new Fall digi stamps, actually the same stamp I used last week because I'm just in love with it!  I'm using Basic Grey Eerie design paper and gold embossed paper from my stash.  The Country Crinkle ribbon is also from Sugar Creek Hollow.  My "punkin" is colored with Copic markers and I added some gold "Stickles".

Frankie Funhouse Fairy

Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #66

I am totally hooked on Midnight Madness challenges!  This week's sketch was intimidating with all the triangles, here's what it looks like:

And this is the card I created:

Now you haven't see this image before,  this is a sneak peek from Sugar Creek Hollow's new Fall digi line.  Tracy was kind enough to let me use a few of these new images so you can see what's coming up soon!

I used Basic Grey's Eerie collection for my design paper and "Swirley Punkin Head" and "Swirley Spider" from SCH's new Fall images.  Just a few Copic markers were used to color the punkin.  Once I started this card I had a blast adding all the embellishments!

Pink, now that's one of my favorite colors for making cards!  I just had to use "Little Miss Dress Up" for this week's challenge, I think she just looks so sassy!  Here's my card:
I found the black and white DP in my stash and used SU and Canson card stock.  Little Miss Dress Up is colored with Copic markers and I added Stickles to her boa for some flash.   This was a fun challenge and I hope you'll play along with us at Pixie Dust Studio!  You can find the challenge information here.

Celebration!

Today is a wonderful day and a celebration for me!

First: I don't think I mentioned it on Tuesday, but on Monday my dad had his LAST radiation treatment!!!  He was diagnosed with parotid (saliva) gland cancer in April and we have finished surgery, chemo and radiation!  God is good!

Second:  My daughter and 4 grandchildren are here for a nice long visit, this summer has been so busy I haven't had a chance to go and visit them!

I may not have a card for you today, but I definitely will have a new Pixie Dust Studio card tomorrow, so stay tuned and please come back and visit!

Puppy Love

I was blessed to have one of my best friends from childhood pay me a visit last weekend.  We pulled out the old yearbooks, dusted them off and had a fabulous time pouring over the past.  It was such fun to see how we looked then and now, LOL!  Remember the "flip" hairdo?  Oops, now I'm dating myself!

Anywho, my bf also brought her daughter along who is absolutely passionate about Beagles, she owns a "few".  I've owned this cute digi from DigiDrawn, just waiting for the perfect occasion to create a card.  Lisa, this is for you!
Card Recipe
Basic Grey DP
Copic markers
SU and Canson cardstock
Sentiment and Bone from MFT
Beagle digi stamp from DigiDrawn
Spellbinder die, MS border punch, Marvy & SU punches for circles
This little "puppy" is going out in the mail today!

Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #65 - Sunflowers

Time for another fabulous Midnight Madness Challenge from Priscilla Styles!

This is the sketch for this week's challenge:
And my card creation using "Priscilla Styles" stamps "Sunflower Top" and Sunflower Stem".  These are just sensational!

First off, I embossed my images with a "Damask" Cuttlebug design.  Then I "Smooched" them so they would really stand out.  I did add some Copic color to the leaves and middle part of the flower.  I made additional smaller sunflower tops for extra embellishments.  Then I went a little crazy with adding borders using my Martha Stewart punches and Spellbinders die.

My DP is from Basic Grey "Origins" and DCWV.   Luckily, I had some yellow polka dot ribbon that was just screaming, "pick me"!   This was a fun card to make using all these different elements.

Thanks for visiting!

Pixie Dust Studio - Take the Pixie Challenge!

Thursdays are Pixie Dust Studio challenge day!  This week's challenge is "Cute as a Button".  All you need to do is make a card/creation using buttons.  Now this I enjoy, buttons are one of my favorite embellishments.  Here is my card for the challenge:
Under the Weather
Sad little gnome!  I think he's tired of the rainy weather!   I colored him with bright Copic colors to cheer him up.

My DP is from the Basic Grey "Marrakech" collection and my card stock is from SU.  Buttons, buttons, buttons!  These are all from my button tin.  I love to go to thrift stores, flea markets, whatever and add to my collection.

Thanks for visiting today and be sure to check out the other Pixie's creations and don't forget to enter the challenge!

Paper Cupcakes

Catchy title?  Paper Cupcakes is actually the name of a new stamp company in town.  My card today is for Nina's Magical Monday challenge, which can be found here.  I used the swimming chick which was a freebie image.  The challenge was to create a card with 3 different design papers.

I am really loving this Cosmo Cricket "DeLovely" collection.  I used my Copic markers to match colors in the DP and added - you guessed it - buttons!  My sentiment is from Verve and seems to capture the "magic".

Thanks for visiting and you can also see more of Paper Cupcakes at Crafter's Digital Art Center.

Pixie Dust Studio's Newest Collection - Gnome World!

Today's the official release day for Pixie Dust Studio's newest collection!  Now who doesn't like gnomes?  I've seen them in your gardens!  These are just part of the fabric of fairytales that owner/designer Kathy designs for her fabulous collections.  I had a great time designing my "gnomie" cards.  Here is my card to celebrate today's release:
Gnome is where the Heart is

I had a lot of fun creating all my cards with this collection, I do believe this is the "brightest" one!   I colored with my Copics, used Cosmo Cricket "DeLovely", DCWV and SU card stock.  Added a little country crinkle ribbon, raffia lace and a butterfly thrown in for good measure!
Thanks for visiting and be sure to check out the other's Pixie's blogs to see their release cards!
