Sugar Creek Hollow Sensational Saturday

We have arrived at another Saturday and that means a wonderful new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow. Since we are fast approaching Christmas we decided to challenge you to make VINTAGE CHRISTMAS TAGS. Your vintage tag can be part of a card or a stand-alone beauty.  Here is my tag card:
My tag was stamped with images from Close To My Heart's "Holiday Wishes" stamp set.  The snowflakes and flourish were cut with my Cricut.

We want to remind you that we are a vintage, shabby chic or primitive challenge blog and when you enter one of our challenges, your creation must fit one of those styles as well as following the weekly theme.

This week one random winner will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. In addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week and the creator will receive a badge and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

Don't forget, we also have Christmas Blog Candy for one lucky winner to be chosen from our challenge entries between now and Christmas Eve.

My design team sisters have created some gorgeous tags for your inspiration. If you would like the details just click on their name on my sidebar to be taken directly to their blog.

Sugar Creek Hollow Sensational Saturday

Welcome to Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and a new challenge.

First, I want to announce that I will be leaving the design team at the end of the year.  Designing for Sugar Creek Hollow has been such a joy and I have loved every minute!  I will miss everyone, especially Tracy who was my vintage mentor.  Heide will also be leaving, she is a fabulous designer and will be greatly missed.  Renee will be staying, but scaling back her participation.  Starting in the New Year Renee will become our Feature Artist and will show us all how Recycling and Repurposing are done the vintage way when those challenges come up. These ladies have made valuable contributions to the Sugar Creek Hollow team and have become lovely online crafting friends.

Next, we have three new designers coming on board and they are joining us with their vintage beauties for the challenge this week so you can get a preview of what they will be showing you starting in January.

Give a big welcome to:

Linda Payne from Payne Holler Cards
Peggy Marsh from The Wired Angel
Daniele Haddon from The Musings of a Chocoholic

Now on to our challenge. With Christmas close at hand, our challenge to you this week is to make CHRISTMAS CARDS IN NON-TRADITIONAL COLORS. Don't forget that we are a vintage, shabby chic or primitive challenge and want you to create in those styles.

We have a lovely new sponsor this week. Please welcome Delicious Doodles who will be providing one random winner with 4 digis of her choice. The random winner will also receive a Sugar Creek Hollow winner's badge to display. The Design Team will also choose a Card of the Week and the creator will also receive a badge to display and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

Don't forget, we also have Christmas Blog Candy for one lucky winner to be chosen from our challenge entries between now and Christmas Eve.
To inspire you all of our current and our new designers have created some fabulous Christmas cards in non-traditional colors using a couple of the images from Delicious Doodles.  Here is my creation using the image "A Crofter's  Winter":

Card ingredients:
The Paper Studio's "A Country Christmas" design paper
Georgia Pacific and SU cardstock, distress inks, Copic marker
Cricut embellishments and sentiment

Sugar Creek Hollow Saturday Challenge

Good morning and welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow. This week our challenge to you is FANCY FOLDS.  So think outside the box or past the single fold and let us see vintage, shabby chic or primitive cards with fun and fancy folds!  I chose to make a side step dresser card.  I found the tutorial for this here:
side view

My vintage image is from Clearly Vintage and the fabulous mirror is from Create with TLC's "Ooh La La" collection.  I made the fancy cuts with a Spellbinder's die and used brads as the drawer knobs.  For the final touches, I sponged my dresser and mirror with distress inks.

This week one random winner will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. In addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week and the creator will receive a badge and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

Don't forget, we also have Christmas Blog Candy for one lucky winner to be chosen from
our challenge entries
between now and Christmas Eve.

We are joined by a Guest Designer today, Brenda Brown, who was chosen from the October
Cards of the Week.  Check out all the fun folds created for today's challenge!  Just click on the design team's names listed on my sidebar.

Sugar Creek Hollow Saturday Challenge

It is Saturday and we have a really fun challenge for you at Sugar Creek Hollow this week. We want to see a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card or other paper-crafted project that features a RECIPE CARD. The recipe card can be shown either on the front or inside of your project and the recipe itself should be a family favorite that has been passed down over the years.  Well, that being said, my recipe has been passed down for a few years, it is a favorite I obtained when I joined Weight Watcher's a few years ago:

I don't cook as much as I did when my children were living at home and we like quick and easy meals most of the time.  After all, when you're retired you never have any time to yourself!  I have passed this on to several friends and to my children.  This is so yummy on those cold winter days!  You could easily add some other vegetables to make this ever heartier.

We hope you will join along with our fun challenge this week!  If your recipe isn't easily read from the photo of your project, then we would ask that you detail it in your post. It would also be great if you could show a photo of the finished recipe. Your recipe can be of any type and we would love to hear the story behind it. Soon your family's favorite could become someone else's family favorite so thanks for sharing.

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow. We have an easy one this week because it's all about STRIPES AND SPOTS. We want to see both on your beautiful vintage, shabby chic or primitive card or other paper-crafted project.  I made my card using a vintage digi Santa and holiday papers from Create with TLC:
We will be choosing one random winner who will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. The Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week and the creator will receive a badge and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

Don't forget that we have Christmas  Blog Candy for one lucky winner to be chosen from our challenge entries between now and Christmas Eve!  Just follow the challenge theme and the rules on the sidebar.  You can submit up to 3 entries each week.

Our Design Team has created some fabulous projects this week that will be sure to inspire you.  Joining them is our Guest Designer AUDHILDwho was chosen from the September Cards of the Week. Sugar Creek Hollow Saturday Challenge

Welcome to another Sugar Creek Hollow challenge!  This week we challenge you to use your "trash' and create a vintage treasure.  You can include items from your paper scraps but your project must start with something you are re-purposing.  Please include a photo of that item in your post so we can say "You went from that to that - wow!"  You never know what you may have laying around that can be transformed into a work of art.  My treasure is a box I created for Christmas goodies.  I can use this for a fancy gift box or it makes a great container for cookies or candy.  I also made a matching gift tag.

My "trash" is this oatmeal container that I conveniently emptied this week.  I got carried away trimming this down and you can even see my beginning cuts.  I trimmed the container to 3" above the base and covered it with design paper.

My reindeer, fancy label and tag were all created with my Cricut.  I embossed the reindeer and sponged with distress ink.  I think they look very vintage!

We will choose one random winner who will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. The Design Team will select one project as Card of the Week and the creator of that project will receive a badge to display and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

By entering this challenge you not only have a chance to win our regular prizes, but your name will go into the draw for the Christmas Blog Candy every time you enter so let's see your wonderful creations!

Sugar Creek Hollow Sensational Saturday

Today is a Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and this week our challenge is to create a card or other paper crafted project featuring VELLUM.  We would love to see how you use vellum in your project but remember that we are a vintage, shabby chic or primitive challenge blog so your entry must be in one of those styles.
Here is my creation using vellum:
Silent Night

I used Heartfelt Creations Holiday Poinsettia Candle set for my card, stamping on vellum.  I just used the holly around the candle and the sentiment.  I used the Cricut to create my frame and embellishments, and embossed with my Cuttlebug.

Enter our challenge this week and you could be a random winner or Card of the Week Winner!

This week we are welcoming Peggy Marsh (a.k.a. The Wired Angel) as Guest Designer and she has created a beauty for you. Peggy was selected from the August Cards of the Week winners.

Colors of Fall with Sugar Creek Hollow

Welcome to another Sugar Creek Hollow Sensational Saturday!  Today our challenge is to create a vintage card with "Colors of Fall".  It seems everything is coming up pumpkins these days!  I have an adorable image from Paper Cupcakes to share with you today:

Sunflower Topiary

I used Spellbinders and Marianne Creatables diecuts on my card and colored my image with Copic markers.  Oh, and I couldn't leave out Martha (Stewart, that is)!  I used a scrap of lace decorated with dew drops and added pearls and a gingham bow.

We'd love to see your fall colors this week.  Thanks for visiting, I love reading your comments and appreciate all your support!

Sugar Creek Hollow Saturday Challenge

It is another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and we are having a special HALLOWEEN WITH A TWIST challenge this week so make sure you read the challenge post carefully.

We are welcoming Plumrose Lane as a new sponsor this week and for this challenge our sponsor is providing all of you with a wonderful freebie that you must use to make your vintage, shabby chic or primitive challenge entry. You will love this because the freebie is a collage sheet of fabulous Halloween images along with an instant card and envelope.  Here's my design:
I chose the images I wanted to use, trimmed them and adhered to a spiderweb frame I made with my Cricut.  This collage is so versatile and so many different designs can be created!

Trash to Vintage Treasure Challenge!

Today is another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and it is also the first of the month so that means it is time for another TRASH TO VINTAGE TREASURE challenge. Your vintage card or other paper-crafted project must start with or include one or more items that you would normally throw away. This does not mean paper scraps in your stash but you can use them in addition to your recycled or re-purposed item. Please make sure you add a photo to your blog post of the throw-away item(s) you have used so we can see how your creativity began.

Here is my "treasure" this week:
Coaster Christmas Ornament
I used a vintage image from Magic Moonlight and did a little cropping in Photoshop so I could use just the circular greeting.

and here is the "trash" I used to create my ornament:

Whenever we go out to eat, I always ask everyone to save their coasters.  I've accrued a nice little collection, sure beats buying the chipboard!  These are the perfect size to decorate for Christmas ornaments.  I had our card ministry this past Thursday and we decided to make these ornament for our shut-ins and those who receive communion in nursing homes from our church.

We will be choosing a random winner who will receive a digi of our choice and the Design Team will select a Card of the Week.

Our designers have been digging through their recycling bins and transformed some great items into wonderful treasures for your inspiration. To get more details and see what they used, just click on their name and you will be taken directly to their blog.

Thanks for visiting, I appreciate your comments and all your support!

Vintage Children at Sugar Creek Hollow

It's time for Sugar Creek Hollow's Saturday challenge.  This week we want you to show us your creativity with "vintage children".  I have used an image from Create With TLC called "Too Many Numbers".  I can remember being in a "daze" while doing math in school!
School Daze
Sugar Creek Hollow is all about vintage creations.  We would love to have you join our challenge this week and show us your vintage style!

My design paper this week is from Cosmo Cricket's "Odds & Ends" mini deck.  I added a  Tim Holtz "ticket" and added my sentiment with my Xyron design runner.  The "A,B,C's" were made with my newest "toy", a Cricut Expression.  I texturized my panel and I've added Ranger distress ink "Old Paper" to my papers.

Thanks for visiting, I appreciate all your support and encouragement!

This week our Sensational Saturday challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is to create a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card or other paper-crafted project featuring SUNFLOWERS in the main image.  Here is my vintage card using an image from "Digital Two For Tuesday".  My sentiment is from Create With TLC.
I'm so excited to announce that Linda Coughlin is our fabulous sponsor for this week's challenge!!!  I am such a huge fan and always follow her blog.  She is one of the most amazingly talented vintage designers I've ever met!

Linda Coughlin, a.k.a The Funkie Junkie, loves using unusual frilly and funky items in her crafting. Sugar Creek Hollow Trash to Treasure Challenge

Welcome to another Sugar Creek Hollow Saturday challenge!  This week our challenge is to use "throw-away" items on your creation.  This is a great opportunity to recycle some of your "trash" and create a "treasure"!  I happened to be pondering what I was going to do for this challenge and noticed a discarded USPS folder in my trash can.  Instant kraft paper!  I stamped some images from Tim Holtz's "The Journey"stamp collection directly on the paper, plus also cut out and glued additional images.  I used design paper from Bo Bunny's "Timepiece" collection.

The Journey

The Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week and the creator will receive a badge to display and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

All of our designers have created "treasures"  this week and I hope these will inspire you!

Thanks for visiting, I appreciate all your support and encouragement!
